Disability Research Center (DRC) at Kathmandu University School of Arts (KUSOA) organized a national level Conference on Disability on June 17, 2016. The event was organized with the support of UNICEF Nepal.Evidence, Functionality and Independent Living was the main theme of the conference. In total, eight research papers on various issues of disability were presented. On the occasion, Disability Atlas Nepal, a comprehensive visualization of disability statistics of Nepal prepared by DRC, was launched. A book titled Persons with Disability in Nepal, a compilation of all the major research output of DRC during last one year, was also launched in the program. The program was followed by a painting exhibition of a KUSOA student who is herself a person with hearing problem. More than 50 participants from various organizations such as UNICEF, NFDN, Handicap International, DPOs, research institutions and government agencies made valuable contribution to the conference.
